Early Life and Background

Rebbeca Marie Gomez, professionally known as Becky G, was born on March 2, 1997, in Inglewood, California. She is the daughter of Mexican-American parents Alejandra "Alex" and Francisco "Frank" Gomez. Becky G has two brothers, Frankie and Alex, and a younger sister named Stephanie. Her grandparents emigrated from Jalisco, Mexico, making her a second-generation American. 

Growing up in a financially struggling family, Becky G began working at a young age to support her household. At nine, she decided to pursue a career in entertainment, leading her to be homeschooled due to bullying at school. 

Rise to Fame

Becky G's journey to stardom began in 2011 when she started uploading cover videos of popular songs on YouTube. Her talent caught the attention of producer Dr. Luke, leading to a record deal with Kemosabe Records and RCA Records. In 2013, she released her debut single "Becky from the Block," which paid homage to Jennifer Lopez's "Jenny from the Block." 

Her breakthrough came in 2014 with the hit single "Shower," which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This success paved the way for her to become a prominent figure in both English and Spanish-language music markets.

In addition to her music career, Becky G has ventured into acting. She portrayed Trini, the Yellow Ranger, in the 2017 film "Power Rangers," marking the first queer superhero in a major film franchise.
